The Indigenous Navigator offers tools and resources to engage indigenous peoples in systematically monitoring the level of recognition and implementation of their rights.

Here you will find training material, how-to articles including guides to complete and use the questionnaires for advocacy purposes and lessons learned from our partners.

The purpose of the Indigenous Navigator data collection is to measure the implementation of three key legal frameworks: The UN declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples and the Sustainable Development Goals from the perspective of indigenous peoples. For indigenous peoples, the data collected can contribute to prioritising needs and formulate demands. In that sense, the Indigenous Navigator can empower indigenous peoples – on a national as well as global scale – to document and illustrate their situation.

Indigenous communities can use data to calculate and illustrate the levels of recognition and realization of their rights on the ground. Community data is a strong advocacy tool to advance local demands.All tools and resources are interlinked and are designed to serve multiple purposes. They can all be downloaded and printed out for use at trainings and in the field.
